Intro: It’s the start of another work week, so that means it’s time for Monday Coffee Blogs! This week we decided to beat the heat by trying an Affogato from Le Bon Macaron, it can be described as no less than as an adventure.

Our Review: Honestly, we had no idea what to do with an affogato. Do we eat it? Drink it? Look at it then walk away like its a piece in an art museum? Long story short, it wasn’t pretty watching us consume this “beverage.” Our main question was why did it come in a dish and not a cup? None of the confusion took away from how this coffee tasted, it was delicious, especially in the midst of this heat wave we’ve been suffering through. Also, we were curious if the energy we experienced from the espresso countered the calories from the ice cream, we’d go with yes so we can feel better about our life choices.
Job Numbers: This is a four-part, repeating series that covers job numbers each month. Since it’s a new month, we are back to looking at the unemployment rate for each of our markets. So while we fumbled with our affogatos, we were able to see the numbers for each of our markets.

When we looked at these trends, we noticed some markets continued to see a decrease in unemployment while others saw an increase. So what does this mean? It does not mean that the economy is in trouble in the areas that saw gains, in fact, the increases that did occur were minimal. It can be attributed to the rise in job openings are causing more people to perhaps leave their current position and start to look for jobs, this results in them being counted as unemployed. The job search power has shifted back to the job seeker instead of the employer. People are more confident that if they leave their current position, they can find a new and better job within six months. This continues to put the pressure on employers to recruit and retain qualified employees by getting creative with wages, benefits, & perks.
