Job Summary
We're looking for a detail-oriented Composite Technician to join an innovative advanced composites manufacturing team. In this role, you'll work with high-performance materials, including carbon fiber prepreg, to fabricate precision composite components from mold preparation through final assembly. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, enjoys hands-on technical work, and is committed to producing high-quality products. Previous composite manufacturing experience is preferred, but on-the-job training is provided.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Composite Technician, your core responsibilities will include:
Mold Preparation & Handling: Inspect molds for cleanliness, damage, and wear, apply release agents, safely remove molds and cured parts from ovens or autoclaves, and carefully demold finished components.
Composite Lamination: Follow laminate schedules and work instructions while verifying material type, ply orientation, and ply count. Perform precise layups and debulk between layers to ensure proper consolidation.
Vacuum Bagging & Cure Operations: Build leak-free vacuum bags, inspect bag integrity, load parts into ovens or autoclaves, and execute cure cycles according to specifications.
Post-Cure Finishing: Mix and label solvents, paints, and finishing materials while maintaining proper inventory and storage practices.
Assembly & Inspection: Assemble composite components and hardware, inspect parts for defects such as delamination, wrinkles, voids, broken fibers, and foreign object inclusion, and report quality concerns to the Production Manager.
Packaging & Shipping: Prepare completed components for packaging and shipment according to customer purchase orders.
In addition, you will maintain a clean and organized work area, follow all process documentation, and support continuous improvement efforts while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
