Machine Builder Location: Grand Rapids, MI Shift: 1st shift Pay: $18+/Hour Are you experienced in machine building and mechanical assembly? We're seeking a Machine Builder to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This position involves building custom equipment and parts assemblies while maintaining a smooth flow of products from production through crating and delivery to customers. What You'll Be DoingAs a Machine Builder, your core responsibilities will include:Machine assembly: Build, assemble, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering sketches, and specifications. Tool operation: Safely and effectively use a variety of hand tools and power tools. Drilling & tapping: Lay out hole locations and perform drilling and tapping operations as required. Quality control: Verify parts conform to stock lists and blueprints using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Machine construction: Apply knowledge of machine construction and mechanical assembly to build specialty equipment and components. Material knowledge: Work with materials and processes related to metals, plastics, testing equipment, adhesives, and bonding. Plastic assembly: Work with plastic assembly processes such as sonic welding, hot plate welding, heat staking, ultrasonic processes, and decorative applications. Production flow: Maintain an efficient flow of parts and products from production through crating for customer delivery. Time management: Manage multiple jobs and projects at the same time while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Field service: Service and/or install equipment at customer locations when necessary. Safety: Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following company procedures, rules, and regulations. Teamwork: Work cooperatively with team members and assist with other related duties as needed. What We're Looking For QualificationsAt least 5 years of related work experience preferred. Previous experience building specialty machines and/or equipment as part of daily job responsibilities. Experience reading and following assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering sketches, and specifications. Experience using hand tools and power tools. Experience with drilling and tapping holes. Experience using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Knowledge of metals and plastics used in manufacturing. Knowledge of testing equipment, adhesives, and bonding. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to effectively manage multiple jobs and projects. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. SkillsMechanical aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, machine construction, and equipment building. Blueprint reading: Able to understand and follow blueprints, engineering sketches, manuals, and specifications. Attention to detail: Able to build and assemble components accurately while maintaining quality standards. Problem solving: Able to identify assembly or equipment issues and determine appropriate solutions. Time management: Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining production schedules. Manual dexterity: Able to quickly and accurately assemble parts and components.
