Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathe machines to produce high-precision metal components and parts. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, and a solid understanding of machining processes.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathe machines to produce high-precision metal components and parts. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, and a solid understanding of machining processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual lathe machines to machine parts and components as per specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents to determine machining processes and specifications.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments for the job.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functionality and adherence to tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Inspect finished parts using various measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure precision and quality standards are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve processes and product quality.
- Ensure that all work is completed within required timelines and meets production goals.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Manual Lathe Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficient in using measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to ensure quality control.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with high precision.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to workplace safety procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications or vocational training a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for machine operation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CNC lathes or other automated machinery.
- Knowledge of tool selection and programming.
- Familiarity with ISO and/or AS9100 quality standards.
