Mechanical Engineer
Location: Grand Rapids, MI Shift: 1st shift Pay: $30/Hour
Are you an experienced mechanical designer with a background in industrial automation? We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This position is responsible for the design and development of intelligent systems and industrial automation equipment from initial concept through completion and customer runoff.
What You'll Be DoingAs a Mechanical Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:Project collaboration: Work closely with project managers and customers from the initial design concept through project completion and customer runoff.
Design development: Contribute to manufacturing design processes and concepts by collaborating with Estimating, Controls, and Project Management teams.
Project ownership: Take ownership of the complete mechanical design life cycle for assigned projects.
Fixture design: Apply knowledge of GD&T to develop successful fixturing solutions for assembly applications.
Machine design: Design equipment with consideration for machine ergonomics, serviceability, and maintenance.
Structural engineering: Engineer structural components and validate designs using FEA.
Automation design: Design and develop mechanical systems for industrial automation applications.
Customer communication: Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal team members throughout the project.
Project management: Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively in a team-based environment and assist with other related duties as needed.
Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive customer and company projects.
Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Adaptability: Remain flexible and productive in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.
What We're Looking For
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience.
10 years of related work experience preferred.
Direct experience with mechanical design as a primary responsibility.
Strong knowledge and experience with SOLIDWORKS mechanical design software.
Understanding of GD&T and mechanical fixturing.
Experience with structural engineering and FEA.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive projects.
Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
SkillsMechanical design: Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and industrial automation equipment.
SOLIDWORKS: Proficient in using SOLIDWORKS for mechanical design and development.
Problem solving: Able to develop practical and effective design solutions for complex manufacturing applications.
Communication: Able to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, suppliers, project managers, and team members.
Organization: Able to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
