Job title: Pipe Fitter
Reports to: Plant Manager
Supervisory responsibilities: n/a
Summary/objective: This position is responsible for building and installing pneumatic and water systems on custom tooling and robotic cells. Qualifying candidates will be capable to cut, thread, and hang black pipe or PVC headerson new machinery, run water and air lines to robots and tooling, and assemble pneumatic systems including assembly valve and manifolds banks per Drawings.
Essential functions:
Manage workload by setting priority of work orders
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time and within scope
Configure pipe systems per Engineering Drawings and system layouts
Use common equipment and machinery (saws, pipe thread machines, and sometimes cutting torches) to cut, bend and thread pipes to desired specifications
Run PVC and black pipe headers for water circuits on custom automated machinery and robotic and cells
Ensure that work is done in a consistent manner, meeting all codes and policies in place
Light travel for onsite installation of equipment at customer’s facility
Follow all company safety protocol
Required competency, education, and experience:
2-5 years’ experience and understanding of the automation industry
Experience reading and interpreting work instructions and pneumatic blueprints
Knowledge and understanding of industry standard components (Parker, SMC, Festo)
Knowledge of water cooling circuits for welding systems
Ability to apply common sense understanding
Ability to carry out written or oral instructions
Experience using hand tools, saws, pipe cutting and pipe threading equipment
Knowledge and understanding of pilot operated checks (PO Checks) and valve configurations
Knowledge and understanding of filter regulators
Knowledge of different thread types such as NPT, straight, British and g-thread
Knowledge of different valve styles and flow controls
Accurate and precise attention to detail while cutting, bending, and installing pipe systems
Work environment: Manufacturing environment.
Physical demands:
Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat, climb ladders and perform work in confined positions.

Are you experienced with pipe fitting, pneumatic systems, and custom machinery? We're seeking a Pipe Fitter to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This position involves building and installing pneumatic and water systems on custom tooling, automated machinery, and robotic cells.
What You'll Be DoingAs a Pipe Fitter, your core responsibilities will include:Pipe system installation: Build and install pneumatic and water systems on custom tooling, automated machinery, and robotic cells.
Pipe fabrication: Cut, bend, thread, and install black pipe and PVC headers according to engineering drawings and system layouts.
Pneumatic systems: Assemble pneumatic systems, including valve and manifold banks, according to drawings and specifications.
Water & air lines: Run water and air lines to robots, tooling, and other equipment.
Engineering drawings: Configure pipe systems according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and system layouts.
Equipment operation: Safely operate saws, pipe threading machines, and cutting equipment as required.
Workload management: Prioritize work orders and manage workload to keep projects moving efficiently.
Project completion: Help ensure projects are completed on time and within the required scope.
Quality & compliance: Ensure work is performed consistently and according to applicable codes, company policies, and procedures.
Customer installation: Assist with onsite installation of equipment at customer facilities when required.
Safety: Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
What We're Looking ForQualifications2–5 years of experience with an understanding of the automation industry.
