Job Summary
We're seeking a hardworking and dependable
Shop Laborer
to join a well-established, family-owned company in Livonia, MI. In this role, you'll assist with the fabrication, assembly, and installation preparation of custom awnings, railings, sunrooms, and screen rooms. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants to learn a skilled trade, and is looking for long-term growth with a company that has been serving customers for over 75 years.
What You'll Be Doing
As a
Shop Laborer
, your core responsibilities will include:
Assembly & Fabrication Support:
Assist with the construction and preparation of awnings, railings, sunrooms, screen rooms, and other custom products using hand and power tools.
Material Handling:
Load, unload, move, and organize materials throughout the shop while ensuring work areas remain clean, safe, and efficient.
Installation Assistance:
Support installation crews by preparing materials, gathering tools, and assisting with projects as needed both in the shop and at job sites.
In addition, you will read and follow work instructions, assist with measuring and cutting materials, perform general shop duties, and support other projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
- Experience using hand tools and power tools required.
- Previous experience in construction, roofing, fencing, carpentry, installation, or related trades is strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed.
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance record.
Skills:
- Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable using tools and learning new fabrication and installation techniques.
- Work Ethic: Willingness to work hard and take pride in quality workmanship.
- Coachability: Ability to accept feedback and learn from experienced team members.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately.
