BASIC JOB FUNCTION
/
PURPOSE
The
SMT
Operator (QO) is responsible for the operation of the
SMT
Pick-and -Place equipment used for the placement of components on surface mount circuit boar
ds manufactured by the company,
including the routine maintenance done to keep the equipment operational.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
/
OBJECTIVES
The SMT Operator job duties
include:
1.
Following policies, procedures and work inst
ructions by reading and
implementing Manufacturing Process document specifications.
2.
Perform all work to IPC 610B standards.
3.
Load proper components into feed tubes for the SMT system.
4.
Silk-screen boards using solder paste and glue.
5.
Inspect and repair boards upon completion of application of components.
6.
Perform any activities related to SMT operation to achieve optimum efficiency.
7.
Keeping the department equipment and the work area clean and safe.
8.
Maintain optimal inventory of SMT parts and order them from stockroom.
9.
Document and report system progress and any non-conformities.
10. Perform routine maintenance to ensure all equipment is operational.
11. Ensure compliance with all policies described in the Employee Handbook.
12. Complete
any work assignments as determined by the
SMT Coordinator or
their designate

ACCOUNTABILITY
/
RESPONSIBILITY
The SMT Operator repor
ts to the SMT Coordinator
. S/he must respond to production needs and constantly find ways to improve operation efficiency.
An understanding of customer standards is important.
Errors may cause delays in work, losses in expenditures for materials and/or equipment, or unjustified excessive work time. The QO should observe, improve, problem solve, self-motivate and effectively organize his/her work. S/he will assist in training new operators for this machine.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The
SMT
Operator requires a high school education or equivalent, plus working knowledge and training about printed circuit boards through technical training or on-the-job experience. S/he needs a thorough knowledge of PCB assembly. The QO must have the ability to read and follow i
nstruction. S/he needs to have
knowledge of component identification and good people skills to work as a team member.
A knowledge of computer operation and b
asic programming is mandatory. The SMT Operator must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in the English language.

Employee performs work lifting up to
seventy five (75) pounds and/or a very
minimum amount of force frequently
to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move
objects.
Visual Activity:
Employee performs work where it is close to eyes.
Job Location:
Employee is not regularly exposed to environmental
conditions. (Work is in an office environment.)
Safety Equipment:
Safety glasses are used only where required.
