Job Summary
Workbox Staffing is seeking a skilled
Torcher
to join our team. This role involves using oxy-fuel torches to cut and process scrap metal safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate has experience with metal cutting, follows safety protocols, and thrives in an industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate an oxy-fuel torch to cut and process scrap metal according to company specifications.
- Sort and separate different types of metals based on composition and size.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of scrap materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Inspect equipment and perform basic maintenance on torches and safety gear.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations to prevent workplace hazards.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and any safety concerns.
- Able to safely and effectively operate a forklift truck.
- Follow all written procedures and instructions in the performance of required tasks.
Key Qualifications
- Experience using oxy-fuel torches in a scrap yard, demolition, or industrial setting preferred.
- Basic knowledge of different metal types and how they respond to heat.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and a physically demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Willingness to wear necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
- Forklift or heavy equipment operation experience is a plus but not required.

Experience with computer data entry
Metal Processing experience
Basic math skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
