Job Summary
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding components used in the construction of industrial material handling, conveying, palletizing, and packaging equipment. This position requires the ability to read engineering drawings, perform precise fabrication work, and consistently produce high-quality weldments that meet company and customer specifications.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Welder/ Fabricator, your core responsibilities will include:
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Fabricate steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components to required specifications
- Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Flux-Core welding operations
- Layout, fit, and assemble fabricated parts and structures
- Operate fabrication equipment including:
- Saws
- Drill presses
- Ironworkers
- Grinders
- Press brakes
- Plasma cutting equipment
- Inspect completed welds for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications
- Perform grinding, finishing, and cleanup of fabricated components
- Assist with machine assembly as required
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve fabrication challenges
- Meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
In addition, you may also be requested to help with manual material handling, packaging, and other production duties as needed in the
workplace
to accomplish company goals and deadlines.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications/ Skill Sets:
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of welding and metal fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in MIG welding; TIG welding experience, AWS certification, and technical training in Welding Technology or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols, with knowledge of fabrication layout techniques.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection tools, including tape measures, calipers, and squares.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical and measurement skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Structural steel fabrication, forklift, and overhead crane experience preferred.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, maintain quality standards, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical work throughout the workday, including frequently lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to welding fumes, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
