Job Summary
Material Handlers are responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near a plant or work site. This role requires operating a forklift (hilo), following safety protocols, and maintaining accurate records of materials handled.
Responsibilities
Load and unload materials from trucks, pallets, racks, and shelves
Operate forklift (hilo) safely and efficiently
Read work orders and follow instructions to move materials
Count, scan, weigh, and record materials handled
Attach identifying tags or labels to materials
Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Verify packing slips and labels
Key Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret written procedures and instructions
Ability to write routine production reports and labels
Forklift (hilo) permit
Preferred Skills
Experience with inventory management and tracking
Basic math skills for counting and recording materials
Attention to detail for verifying labels and tags
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills for reporting issues and participating in problem-solving activities
Familiarity with OSHA/MIOSHA regulations and safety protocols

What You’ll Be DoingAs a Material Handler, your core responsibilities will include:

? Labeling and tagging: Attach identifying labels, tags, or markings to materials.
In addition, you will also be expected to verify packing slips, maintain a clean workspace, follow safety protocols, and participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
