Job Summary
A manufacturing company is seeking a Buyer/Planner to support Power Cell production for existing and new products. The ideal candidate will be an experienced supply chain professional capable of working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.
Responsibilities
- Recommend and release direct material purchases based on forecast and demand
- Source and qualify suppliers, negotiate supply agreements, and ensure quality expectations
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders to meet production schedules
- Participate in cross-functional teams to improve processes, productivity, and quality
- Stay current with market conditions and technology changes
- Participate in new material introductions and design reviews
- Maintain SAP information and coordinate production workflow
- Determine resource needs and monitor jobs to ensure timely completion
- Prepare status and performance reports and propose solutions to improve supply chain processes
Key Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in buying/planning
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong project organization and timeline management skills
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
- Buying experience in metal fabrication, plastic, or electronics industry
- Familiarity with purchasing targets for cost, quality, and delivery
- Experience with cost reduction or continuous improvement projects
- Previous experience in a start-up company's supply chain organization
- Demonstrated mechanical assembly aptitude and process understanding
