Job Summary
This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC routing equipment to produce high-quality signage components from various materials including acrylic, aluminum, wood, and composite panels. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC router machines based on CAD/CAM files and production specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders
- Select appropriate materials, tooling, and machine settings for each job
- Monitor machine operation and make necessary adjustments to ensure precision and quality
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality and dimensional specifications
- Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines
- Collaborate with design and fabrication teams to troubleshoot issues and improve workflow
- Maintain accurate documentation of jobs, material usage, and machine logs
- Ensure work area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Assist in inventory control of raw materials and tooling supplies
Key Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or CNC training preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating CNC routers in a manufacturing or signage environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of CNC machine operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and G-code or CAM-generated programs
- Familiarity with software such as VCarve, EnRoute, or similar CNC routing programs
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Basic computer literacy and math skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with materials used in sign fabrication (e.g., acrylic, aluminum, PVC)
- Knowledge of sign industry standards and practices
- Forklift certification
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or CorelDRAW
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
