Job Summary

Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking for a new opportunity? We're seeking Fleet Mechanics to join our team in Battle Creek Michigan. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our operations. Fleet Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on a company's vehicles and equipment, ensuring the fleet operates safely and efficiently. Key responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, handling repairs and adjustments, managing parts inventory, and communicating with fleet managers about vehicle condition. Strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, and the capacity to work in a hands-on, safety-focused environment are essential qualifications. Core Responsibilities Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and diagnostic checks on all types of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment. Repair & Diagnostics: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other components. Parts Management: Order, stock, and manage parts inventory to ensure necessary supplies are available for repairs. Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed on fleet vehicles. Communication: Report vehicle status, necessary repairs, and estimated costs to the fleet manager and communicate with other technicians. Safety: Adhere to all safety procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work environment. On-Call/Field Repairs: Be available for emergency call-outs and potentially travel to remote locations to make field repairs. Essential Skills & Qualifications Technical Proficiency: Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostic skills, with the ability to interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagrams. Tool & Equipment Operation: Skilled in operating a variety of hand and power tools, electronic diagnostic equipment, and potentially heavy equipment. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify the root causes of operating errors and determine the most effective repair solutions

What You'll Be Doing

As a Fleet Mechanic your core responsibilities will include:

  • Performing preventive maintenance
  • Handling repairs and adjustments
  • Managing parts inventory, and communicating with fleet managers about vehicle condition

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of performing heavy manual labor, including lifting and maneuvering equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to tasks to ensure accurate diagnoses and high-quality repairs.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, and the capacity to work in a hands-on, safety-focused environment are essential qualifications
Skills:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED Driver's
  • License: A valid driver's license is typically required
