Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Shift: 1st Shift Monday – Friday, 2nd Shift Monday – Friday, 3rd shift Sunday- Thursday
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00+ per hour based on experience
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, finished goods, and other materials throughout the facility. This position supports production and shipping operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately, inventory is handled properly, and all safety standards are maintained.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Forklift Operator, your core responsibilities will includes
Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to transport, load, unload, stack, and store materials
Supply production areas with required materials and remove finished goods as needed
Load and unload trucks while verifying quantities and inspecting materials for damage
Move materials between departments, storage locations, and workstations according to production schedules
Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
Accurately complete inventory transactions and material movement documentation
Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and material audits
Maintain proper material identification and storage practices
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and forklift operating procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Support shipping, receiving, warehouse, and production operations as needed
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency
In addition, you may also be requested to help with manual material handling, packaging, and other production duties as needed in the warehouse to accomplish company goals and deadlines.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications/ Skill Sets
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous forklift operating experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment preferred
Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
Ability to read work orders, shipping documents, labels, and inventory records
Basic computer and inventory management system experience preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet production and shipping deadlines
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical work throughout the workday
Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance
Ability to work in a manufacturing or warehouse environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures
Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
