This individual will be responsible for furnace operation, mold production, and finishing of specified types of non-ferrous cast metal alloy products. Responsibilities + Operating the furnace, including weighing metal for furnace charge, loading charge into melting furnace. Pouring metal, including operating a crane hoist + Finish metal castings by removing gates, sprues, risers, sharp edges and other projections using a variety of tools, including sledge and pneumatic hammers, cut-off saw, power disc and belt sanding equipment, as well as hand held air operated grinders and belt sanders + Create sand molds, including moving patterns, molds and weights, and managing spent sand + Breaking out molds, loading and un-loading the blast equipment + Sorts and loads castings by like groups into shipping containers for transport to machining facility + Follows check-list for work inspection, prepares shipping tags and other shipment documentation as required + Keeps record of scrap and scrap castings inventory for disposition + Perform clean-up around the work area to maintain a safe and healthy environment + Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety, being aware of any company related policies + Notify manager of necessary repairs + May be assigned other general foundry duties as required, tracking inventory of supplies, chip/scrape ladle linings, using bar, etc. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Requires a general knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of castings and efficient flow of foundry production + Operation of heavy equipment, including lift truck, crane hoist, power floor sweeper and other equipment + Functional knowledge of basic math and its application + Working knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and general maintenance + Reliable, trustworthy, and good work ethic + Prioritization and time management skills + Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of performance + Knowledge of English language and ability to comprehend written work related documents + Ability to lift at least 45 pounds + High School diploma, GED, or higher
