Furnace Operator

Location:  Detroit, MI  Shift:   1 st  Shift   Pay:   $18.00/hr.

Job Summary

We're seeking a dependable and safety-focused  Furnace Operator  to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for operating industrial furnaces used in the heat treatment of steel and aluminum components. You'll play a critical role in ensuring products meet quality standards while maintaining safe and efficient production processes.

What You'll Be Doing

As a  Furnace Operator , your core responsibilities will include:

Furnace Operation:  Operate industrial furnaces used for annealing, hardening, tempering, solution treating, and other heat treatment processes while monitoring temperatures, cycles, and furnace atmospheres.

Material Handling:  Load and unload materials using forklifts, hoists, and manual handling methods while ensuring proper placement and securing of parts throughout the heat treatment process.

Quality & Process Monitoring:  Perform visual inspections and quality checks on finished components, maintain temperature logs and production records, and verify products meet customer and metallurgical specifications.

In addition, you will assist with preparing parts for heat treatment, perform basic furnace maintenance and troubleshooting, report equipment concerns, and support production goals as assigned. 

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Previous manufacturing experience required. 
  • Previous furnace operation or heat treatment experience preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. 
  • Forklift experience or certification is a plus. 
Skills:
  • Attention to Detail:  Ability to monitor furnace settings and maintain quality standards. 
  • Mechanical Aptitude:  Comfortable working with industrial equipment and control systems. 
  • Quality Focus:  Ability to inspect parts and identify potential quality concerns. 
  • Safety Awareness:  Commitment to following all safety procedures and PPE requirements. 
  • Teamwork:  Ability to communicate effectively and support production objectives.
