Job Summary
Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking for a new opportunity? We're seeking a General Yard/Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Chase, MI. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our operations, helping us to assist in the yard using heavy equipment and efficiently moving and processing scrap metal.
What You'll Be Doing
As a General Yard/Heavy Equipment Operator, your core responsibilities will include:
- Heavy Equipment Operation : Operating various heavy equipment (forklift trucks, loaders, etc.) to safely move scrap metal throughout the yard.
- Material Handling : Efficiently moving and organizing scrap metal and potentially other materials to ensure smooth flow of yard operations.
- Scale Operation : Applying knowledge of using scales for accurate material processing.
In addition, you will also be expected to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be a quick learner to adapt to new tasks.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
- Experience with heavy equipment (forklift trucks, loaders, etc.).
- Knowledge of using scales.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work effectively in all weather conditions.
Skills:
- Customer Service : Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with colleagues and potentially clients.
- Learning Agility : Quick learner to efficiently adapt to new tasks, equipment, and changing priorities.
- Material Knowledge : Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials is preferred but not required.
