Job Summary
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Grind Team Member to join our manufacturing team in Holland, MI. In this role, you'll prepare steel components for shot blasting and painting by grinding and finishing metal surfaces while ensuring each product meets quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience using hand tools, enjoys hands-on work, and is committed to safety, teamwork, and producing quality products.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Grind Team Member, your core responsibilities will include:
- Grinding & Finishing: Grind and finish metal products to prepare them for shot blasting and paint.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect products before and during processing to ensure they meet company quality standards.
- Material Handling: Safely move materials using hand tools, overhead cranes, and hi-los as needed.
- Blueprint & Work Instruction Compliance: Read and follow work instructions and blueprints to ensure products are completed accurately.
- Maintaining Work Areas: Keep workstations, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and operating safely.
- Supporting Production: Assist with continuous improvement initiatives while promoting teamwork and maintaining production efficiency.
In addition, you will follow all company policies and procedures, maintain a safe work environment, and support other production duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience using hand tools, hi-los, and overhead cranes preferred.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and blueprints.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
Skills
- Grinding & Finishing: Ability to safely operate grinders and other finishing equipment.
- Material Handling: Experience operating hi-los and overhead cranes is preferred.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to accurately interpret work instructions and blueprints.
- Measurement Skills: Ability to read tape measures and other measuring tools accurately.
- Attention to Detail: Strong commitment to producing high-quality finished products.
- Teamwork: Excellent attendance, reliability, and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, grinders, hi-los, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
