Job Summary
We're looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Grinder / General Laborer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for grinding and finishing stainless steel components to meet quality and food-grade standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in producing high-quality finished products.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Grinder / General Laborer, your core responsibilities will include:
- Grinding & Finishing: Grind and blend weld radii, corners, and seams on stainless steel frames to achieve a smooth, consistent finish.
- Operating Equipment: Safely operate pneumatic and electric grinders, die grinders, belt-finishing tools, and other abrasive equipment.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect completed work for surface defects and make corrections before parts move to the next stage of production.
- Following Production Standards: Follow job instructions, finish specifications, food-grade cleanliness requirements, and production priorities.
- Maintaining Equipment: Perform basic care of grinding tools and equipment while reporting any maintenance concerns.
- Housekeeping & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
In addition, you will assist with other general labor and production duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- Previous grinding or metal-finishing experience preferred; training is available.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work assigned hours and overtime as needed.
- Ability to safely operate hand-held power tools.
- Ability to follow written work instructions and safety procedures.
Skills
- Metal Finishing: Ability to grind, blend, and finish stainless steel surfaces to quality standards.
- Attention to Detail: Strong eye for surface quality, consistency, and defect identification.
- Power Tool Operation: Experience using pneumatic and electric grinders, die grinders, and belt-finishing equipment.
- Quality Control: Ability to inspect completed work and correct imperfections before production continues.
- Communication: Ability to work effectively with supervisors and production team members.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and properly wearing required PPE.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to bend, reach, grip tools, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance when needed.
- Willingness to wear required PPE, including eye, hearing, hand, respiratory, and other assigned protection.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
