CNC ID/OD Grind Machinist
to join our team in Detroit

. In this role, you’ll be part of a certified manufacturing team specializing in precision gears and aerospace components for the aerospace, automotive, and defense industries.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a
CNC ID/OD Grind Machinist,
your core responsibilities will include:
- Operating CNC OD/ID Grinding Equipment: Set up and operate CNC grinding machinery with minimal supervision to meet production goals and quality standards.
- Precision Inspection: Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measurement tools.
- Programming & Setup:
Determine and set appropriate tooling, wheel grades, dressing frequencies, and feeds/speeds while maintaining setup documentation.
In addition, you will also be expected to conduct daily maintenance checks, maintain production cycle times, and assist with tooling and fixturing needs as required.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
- Complete understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to program CNC equipment (Studer programming a plus).
- Experience grinding diameters and linear tolerances within .0005"–.00005".
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and machining instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Skills:
- Technical Precision: Skilled in operating CNC grinding equipment and ensuring high-accuracy results.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement process improvements to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with production and engineering teams.
