Industrial Painter / Heavy Equipment Loader
Location: Kentwood, MI Shift: 1st: 5:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday; Overtime available on Saturday as needed Pay: $20+ per hour
Job Summary
Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking for a new opportunity? We’re seeking an Industrial Painter / Heavy Equipment Loader to join our team in Kentwood, MI. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our operations, helping to ensure steel components are painted to specification and materials are loaded safely and efficiently for shipment.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Industrial Painter / Heavy Equipment Loader, your core responsibilities will include:
● Material Handling & Loading: Safely load trailers up to 45,000 lbs using overhead cranes and lifting devices, ensuring proper banding, boxing, and shrink-wrapping of materials.
● Surface Preparation & Painting: Clean and prepare steel components, apply paint using spray equipment, and flip or stage items as needed to ensure full coverage.
● Quality Control: Use an elcometer to measure paint thickness twice per shift, document results, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
● Documentation & Verification: Verify materials to be loaded against "Pieces Not Shipped" lists, mark completed items, and submit documentation to plant management.

In addition, you will also be expected to safely handle wood dunnage, assist with staging painted materials, and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
● 2+ years of industrial painting experience
● 2–3+ years of experience with heavy equipment operation
● Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and maintain stamina throughout the shift
● Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
● Effective communication and teamwork skills
● Basic math skills for measuring and calculating dimensions
● 2–3+ years of experience with heavy equipment operation

Preferred Qualifications:
● Technical certifications in welding/fabrication a plus
● Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and machinery
● Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual dexterity tasks
