Production Machine Operator (Cutter)

Location:  Byron Center, MI
Shift:  1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay:  $19.00 per hour

Job Summary

Are you a dependable and safety-conscious individual looking for a hands-on manufacturing opportunity? We're seeking a  Production Machine Operator (Cutter)  to join our team in Byron Center, MI. In this role, you'll be responsible for operating production equipment, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring efficient manufacturing processes while working in a fast-paced production environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Production Machine Operator (Cutter), your core responsibilities will include:
  • Verifying equipment setup prior to the start of production runs and safely operating manufacturing equipment.
  • Producing parts to customer specifications, ensuring correct material, density, weight, size, and shape while maintaining quality standards and productivity goals.
  • Monitoring equipment performance, troubleshooting issues, making adjustments, and reporting malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Maintaining production logs and completing required reports accurately and timely.
  • Bundling, wrapping, stacking, packing, assembling, and labeling materials according to production instructions.
  • Training new employees on equipment operation and departmental procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Performing routine cleaning and assisting with general production activities as assigned.
Equipment may include, but is not limited to:
  • Pre-Expander
  • Mold Equipment
  • Lamination Line
  • Block Auto Line
  • Other assigned manufacturing machinery

What We're Looking For

Qualifications:

  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb steps or ladders, reach overhead, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing environments.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Must be trained and familiar with general safety practices.
  • Must be trained and familiar with Quality System Awareness.

Skills:

  • Manufacturing Knowledge:  General understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment operations, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Mechanical Aptitude:  Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and make necessary machine adjustments.
  • Attention to Detail:  Ability to verify orders and ensure products meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Leadership Skills:  Ability to assist in training and mentoring new employees.
  • Organization:  Ability to maintain accurate records and keep work areas clean and organized.
