Machine Operator, $23.00/hr. – Huger, South Carolina
2nd shift: 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
Workbox Staffing is hiring Machine Operator in Huger.
As a Machine Operator your main responsibility is to set up and operate the machine according to customer specifications and work orders. Your detail, safety, and attentiveness are critical to regular equipment inspection and the ability to measure dimensions, align parts and produce material according to production instructions.

Responsibilities:
- Inspect arbor and overarm setups to ensure compliance with production instructions
- Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
- Review and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface condition and ensure compliance with production instructions
- Run coils at maximum speed, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
- Document strip conditions, gauge as required, and ensure customer specifications
- Band and identify finished goods in compliance with production and complete all proper documentation
- Review work instructions to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
- Operate the multi-blanking machine to slit-to-wide and cut-to-length based on customer specifications
- Monitor condition of blanks for defects and ensure compliance with customer requirements and productions instructions
- Adjust MBL setup as needed for quality blanks
- Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions or complete preventative maintenance as necessary
- Setup skids on the parts conveyor to ensure no disruption of production
- Assist packager as needed to stack material
- Complete required paperwork
- Remove scrap and empty hoppers as needed
- Clean and maintaining housekeeping of MBL area
- Communicate non-compliance production or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead
Skills:
- Ability to read and follow all work order instructions and complete documentation
- Knowledge of current crane and forklift operation preferred
- Ability to perform complete setup and operational tasks of the machine to ensure compliance with customer specifications
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or platforms
- Ability to routinely twist, bend, stoop, and squat
- Ability to work under little supervision
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to accurately use tape measures, Rockwell tester, digital calipers, digital/dial indicators, height gauge, computer, part specific gauges, and micrometers
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control – X bar and R Charts, individual moving range charts, basic distribution analysis
- Knowledge of raw materials, multi-blanking process, and quality standards
- Ability to communicate effectively
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Conditions:
This is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment process. The temperature of the facility will vary based on the outside weather conditions. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance and may include overtime as deemed necessary by management.
