Machine Operator
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Shift: 1st Shift Monday – Friday, 2nd Shift Monday – Friday, 3rd shift Sunday- Thursday
Pay: $16.00-18.00+ per hour based on experience
Job Summary
Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating production equipment and machinery used in the manufacturing and assembly of industrial products. This position ensures that equipment is operated efficiently, quality standards are maintained, and production goals are met while following all safety and company procedures.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Machine Operator, your core responsibilities will include:
Set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing equipment according to work instructions and production schedules
Load and unload materials, parts, and components into machines and workstations
Perform routine machine adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
Conduct quality inspections using measuring and inspection tools to verify product specifications
Identify and report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, and safety hazards
Perform basic preventative maintenance and daily equipment checks
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and production documentation as required
Accurately complete production, quality, and equipment records
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following 5S and company standards
Support assembly, fabrication, packaging, and other manufacturing operations as needed
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations
Collaborate with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and team members to meet production goals
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process improvement efforts
In addition, you may also be requested to help with manual material handling, packaging, and other production duties as needed in the warehouse to accomplish company goals and deadlines.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications/ Skill Sets
High school diploma or GED required; manufacturing or technical training preferred
Previous experience operating manufacturing equipment, machinery, or production equipment preferred
Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, drawings, and production documents
Experience using basic measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, and gauges
Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Ability to prioritize work, maintain quality standards, and meet production deadlines
Forklift certification or experience preferred
Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical work throughout the workday
Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance
Ability to work around machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment
