Material Handler / Packager – Romulus – $18/hr.
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious
Material Handler
to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for packaging steel wire and rod coils for shipment, operating forklifts to move materials, and ensuring products are secured and ready for delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Package steel coils for shipping using steel or nylon strapping according to customer requirements
- Pull orders from inventory and stage finished products for distribution
- Deliver production materials and supplies where needed
- Maintain organization in stock and material storage areas
- Track inventory by identifying, labeling, and recording product locations, and reporting shortages
- Perform pre-use inspections and operate forklifts to move coils and materials
- Keep work areas, tools, and machinery clean and orderly
- Follow all safety regulations and quality guidelines
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred (not required)
- Experience in the steel industry preferred
- Forklift operation experience required
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong record-keeping and attention to detail skills
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed
