The
Material Handler
Associate
Operates gasoline or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting device such as a forklift, tugger, elevating platform to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or move
products, equipment or materials in the production departments, warehouse or storage yard.
Performs functions related to support of Logistics in the facility including, shipping, receiving, and material control.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Receiving purchased parts and materials into the computer and storing them away.
- Pulling components for assembly.
- Storing away parts manufactured by Drive (Finished Goods as well as Work-In-Process Goods).
- Stage and load product for shipping to the customer.
- Performing cycle counts.
- Actively participating in all day-to-day activities in Logistics Department: housekeeping, safety programs, training courses, meetings.
- Perform additional work based on supervisors or managers assignments (special assignments, handling of returnable packaging, repackaging, etc.)
- Must utilize bar code scanners for receiving, shipping, transfers and cycle counting, use of the Drive ERP system to perform receiving, shipping, transfers and cycle counting.
- Consistently perform proper pre-shift inspection every shift.
- Follow good housekeeping practices.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Capable of being cross-trained as needed in respected department.
- Must be able to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Must meet all safety and quality standards.
- Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
- Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned places
- Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
- Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
- Transport raw materials to production workstations
- Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance
- Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs
- Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilitie s
Position Requirements:
Education and
Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED
- Manufacturing Environment Experience Preferred (Min. 6 months)
- Forklift License
- Valid driver’s License
Communication Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization .
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with metrics.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Manufacturing Environment: 10 % Standing, walking, and lifting
- 90% Driving Forklift in manufacturing environment
- Physically fit and able to lift 25 - 40 pounds occasionally.
