Job Summary
Material Handlers are responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near a plant or work site. This role requires operating a forklift (hilo), following safety protocols, and maintaining accurate records of materials handled.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials from trucks, pallets, racks, and shelves
- Operate forklift (hilo) safely and efficiently
- Read work orders and follow instructions to move materials
- Count, scan, weigh, and record materials handled
- Attach identifying tags or labels to materials
- Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Verify packing slips and labels
Key Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret written procedures and instructions
- Ability to write routine production reports and labels
- Forklift (hilo) permit
Preferred Skills
- Experience with inventory management and tracking
- Basic math skills for counting and recording materials
- Attention to detail for verifying labels and tags
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills for reporting issues and participating in problem-solving activities
- Familiarity with OSHA/MIOSHA regulations and safety protocols
