Material Handler / Steel Receiver
Location: Holland, MI
Shift: 5:00 AM–3:30 PM | Monday–Friday
Pay: $18.00–$21.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Job Summary
We're looking for a dependable and safety-focused Material Handler / Steel Receiver to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for receiving and staging incoming steel, supplying materials to the tube cut, plate, and weld fabrication departments, and ensuring production teams have the materials needed to maintain an efficient workflow. The ideal candidate has strong material handling experience, can read blueprints, and is committed to safety, quality, and teamwork.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Material Handler / Steel Receiver, your core responsibilities will include:
  • Receiving Steel Shipments: Unload incoming steel deliveries and transport materials safely to designated storage areas.
  • Supporting Weld Fabrication: Gather and deliver materials to the tube cut, plate, and weld fabrication teams to maintain production flow.
  • Material Staging: Pull, stage, and organize materials for weld preparation and fabrication.
  • Inventory Organization: Keep steel storage areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
  • Quality & Accuracy: Ensure the quality and quantity of sub-assemblies and materials meet production requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support department and company goals through continuous improvement initiatives while promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.
In addition, you will provide constructive feedback to team members, follow all company policies and procedures, remain customer-focused, and perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of basic material handling methods.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience using EPICOR ERP or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Skills
  • Material Handling: Ability to safely receive, move, stage, and organize steel and fabrication materials.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret blueprints to support production requirements.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency and experience with ERP systems.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Organization: Strong planning and organizational skills while maintaining accurate material flow.
  • Safety Awareness: Commitment to working safely and following all company policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely unload steel shipments and transport materials throughout the facility.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while maintaining safe work practices.
