Job Summary
The MIG/Wire Welder is responsible for welding metal parts using specified wire welding processes. This role also includes related tasks such as flame cutting, grinding, and repairing welds, while ensuring a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Weld fabricated metal products using MIG welding processes to meet production goals.
- Ensure welds are strong, smooth, non-porous, and meet quality standards.
- Follow procedures and utilize jigs/fixtures to maintain accuracy and consistency.
- Operate welding equipment safely and report hazards or concerns to the Safety Director and Maintenance Department.
- Assist with flame cutting, grinding, and weld repair as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate workflow.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in MIG welding with ability to perform vertical, flat, and overhead welds.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, safety standards, and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret tape measures, angle finders, and basic blueprints.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various positions (kneeling, overhead, lying down).
- Competence in using shop tools, both manual and power-operated.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable with consistent attendance.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, bending, and lifting required.
- Exposure to heat, sparks, and noise in a manufacturing setting.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
