Location: Grand Rapids, MI Shift: 2nd Shift Monday - Friday 4:00 pm - 3:00 am Pay: $20.00+ per hour
Job Summary
Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking for a new opportunity? We’re seeking a Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. In this role, you’ll be a key part of our operations, helping us fabricate and assemble custom metal components such as handrails, stairs, ladders, platforms, guards, and other specialty steel products used in commercial and industrial projects.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator, your core responsibilities will include:
- Custom Fabrication: Fabricate and assemble miscellaneous steel items—including railings, stairs, frames, brackets, and platforms—according to blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications.
- Precision Layout & Fitting: Perform accurate layout, measuring, and fit-up work using tape measures, squares, levels, and other precision tools.
- Welding & Equipment Operation: Perform MIG/Flux-Core welding and operate fabrication equipment such as saws, ironworkers, drill presses, and overhead cranes.
In addition, you will also be expected to safely use hand and power tools, verify dimensions and fit-up, follow shop safety procedures, and assist with material handling as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
● Previous experience in miscellaneous steel fabrication or metal fabrication required
● Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols
● Strong MIG/Flux-Core welding ability (TIG experience a plus for specialty items)
● Experience operating overhead cranes, fabrication machinery, and common shop tools
● Understanding of layout, measurement, and small-component fabrication
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
● Welding or fabrication certifications a plus (not required)
