Production Operator
to join our team in
Big Rapids, MI
. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our paint and production operations, helping ensure high-quality products move safely and efficiently through the manufacturing process.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a
Production Operator
, your core responsibilities will include:
- Sequencing and Hanging Parts: Verify correct parts by size and color using production dispatch systems, select proper racks and hang patterns, and load parts for paint runs.
- Inspecting and Organizing Product: Remove product from the line, inspect parts, report identified quality issues to the team lead, and organize parts into correct racks or carts for assembly.
- Maintaining Inventory and Equipment Flow: Track product inventory, maintain loading and unloading line pacing, and return paint racks to appropriate storage areas for reuse.
In addition, you will also be expected to meet daily production requirements, follow safety and housekeeping standards, complete daily 5S tasks, cross-train in other job functions, and perform other duties as needed.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications
- Minimum education level: 8th grade
- New team members may be placed into this role and trained through on-the-job training (OJT)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (assistance provided for heavier items)
- Willingness to flex schedule weekly, including working overtime, weekends, or holidays as business needs require
Skills
- Attention to Detail: Critical for verifying correct parts, inspecting product quality, and ensuring accurate production flow.
- Technical Skills: Ability to use electronic production systems and technology such as PCs, tablets, keyboards, mouse devices, and RF guns.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Ability to work in a self-directed, team-oriented environment, support coworkers, and adapt to changing production demands.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work performed around large machinery and equipment with potential exposure to dust, noise, heat, paint, solvents, and lubricants
- Standing for extended periods with regular walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive arm and hand movements
- Lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds
- Eye protection required; hearing protection may be required
- Constant visual and mental alertness required to maintain a safe work environment
