Production Specialist II

Location:  Byron Center, MI
Shift:  2nd Shift | Monday-Friday | 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Pay:  $21.75 per hour

Job Summary

Are you a motivated manufacturing professional with leadership abilities and strong technical skills? We're seeking a  Production Specialist II  to join our team in Byron Center, MI. In this role, you'll support production operations by coordinating department activities, operating and setting up equipment, monitoring quality standards, and helping ensure production goals are achieved safely and efficiently.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Production Specialist II, your core responsibilities will include:
  • Directing department personnel to ensure production orders are completed on time while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Operating, setting up, and troubleshooting departmental equipment.
  • Verifying order information and producing parts with the correct material, density, weight, size, and shape to meet customer specifications.
  • Monitoring production processes to maximize yield and reduce scrap.
  • Performing data collection and reporting functions within PeopleSoft (ERP) and other company systems.
  • Tracking and reporting department metrics.
  • Working independently and collaborating with team members to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
  • Identifying and reporting production, quality, or equipment issues to supervisors.
  • Following all company policies, safety procedures, and departmental requirements.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb steps or ladders, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to use basic math skills and hand-held measuring tools.
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment and performing basic troubleshooting.

Skills:

  • Manufacturing Knowledge:  Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements, and departmental procedures.
  • Leadership Skills:  Ability to direct department personnel and help coordinate daily production activities.
  • Computer Proficiency:  Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP systems, including PeopleSoft.
  • Mechanical Aptitude:  Ability to operate, set up, troubleshoot, and adjust production equipment.
  • Problem Solving:  Ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communication & Teamwork:  Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet production and quality goals.
