The Prototype Operator plays a crucial role in developing and running prototype stampings, focusing on continuous improvement in quality and productivity. This role requires significant hands-on experience in prototype sheet metal and die work.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Prototype Press Operator,
your core responsibilities will include:
- Prototyping & Development: Must be willing to develop and run prototype stampings, which may include blank development and creating a prototype die process for others to follow.
- Press Operation: Operating hydraulic presses with experience working with Kirkside dies, Aluminum, and Steel dies.
- Die Work : Performing die barbering, die spotting, set up and development using 2, 3, and 4 piece die sets.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and solve problems independently to maintain continuous improvement in quality and productivity.
- Safety & Focus: Maintaining focus on the job, being self-motivated, and keeping safe by wearing all required protective equipment, including safety glasses.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years experience required in prototype sheet metal (Pay range is $25/hr for minimum experience, up to $50/hr for 30+ years).
- High School Diploma.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and conversions (whole numbers, fractions, ratios, and proportions) and work with measurement devices.
- Ability to accurately identify and analyze trends (statistical data).
Skills:
- Hydraulic Press Expertise: Must have hands-on experience operating hydraulic presses.
- Advanced Die Skills: Required skills in die barbering, die spotting, set up, and development using multi-piece die sets.
- Problem Solving: Strong ability to independently troubleshoot and solve issues to ensure quality and productivity.
