What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Punch Press Operator, your core responsibilities will include:
- Machine Setup & Programming: Prepare and set up the punch press machine by loading the appropriate tools, dies, and materials. Create or load CNC programs.
- Punching Operations & Quality Control: Operate the machine to cut, shape, or form components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Conduct regular inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues that may arise during the production process. Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged tools.
- Documentation & Compliance: Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities (production reports, scrap reports). Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
- Experience in machine operation or mechanical ability and aptitude to understand how manufacturing equipment works together in a line to produce high quality products.
- Previous experience as a Punch Operator or in a similar role is preferred.
- 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical strength sufficient to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Frequent lifting, standing, bending & reaching required.
Skills:
- Able to read, write and comprehend plant directives written in English.
- Perform simple mathematics to comprehend and interpret process sheets, SOP manuals, tally sheets, etc. and to keep accurate account of materials used.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical education or vocational training in machine operation is a plus.
