Job Summary
The Racker is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of production parts by racking, sorting, and verifying parts according to customer specifications and company standards. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload individual automotive stampings from production lines/cells
- Inspect and properly load parts into containers for storage and shipment
- Tag, label, and track piece parts and assemblies, and produce required documentation
- Utilize quality concepts to inspect, document, and grade part condition
- Practice continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and identify cost reduction opportunities
- Assist with training new employees, equipment changeouts, and adjustments
- Follow work instructions to meet TS16949 standards and plant safety rules
- Ensure quality of products in assigned area and perform personal transactions in SAP
Key Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and communicate effectively
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
- Physical ability to stand for 8+ hours, lift 50-60 pounds, and work in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of quality concepts and continuous improvement
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good housekeeping practices and ability to work in different areas of the press shop
- Completion of New Hire Orientation, Safety, and Understanding of the Charter training within the first two weeks of employment
