Location:  Ann Arbor, MI  Pay:  Based on Experience  Shift:  Tuesday-Thursday 8:15am-6:30pm Friday-Saturday 8:45pm-6pm

Job Summary
Are you looking for a hands-on position where you can make a difference in your community? We are seeking a  Recycling Processor I  to join a growing recycling operation in Ann Arbor, MI. In this role, you will assist customers, sort and process recyclable materials, operate equipment, and help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient facility.
This is a physically active position that involves working both indoors and outdoors and may require working in various weather conditions.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Recycling Processor I, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Assist customers in a professional and friendly manner, answer questions, and help unload recyclable materials.
  • Sort and process various recyclable materials.
  • Assess incoming materials to determine quantity and composition.
  • Operate cash registers, scales, point-of-sale systems, and other site logistics systems.
  • Handle customer transactions and cash accurately.
  • Prepare materials, bins, and trucks for shipment.
  • Safely operate machinery, equipment, and vehicles after completing required training.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and public spaces.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Help maintain the facility to ensure customer safety, comfort, and ease of unloading.
  • Address and resolve customer questions or concerns.
  • Communicate clearly with team members using handheld radios.
  • Assist with special projects and other operational needs as assigned.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–3 years of recycling industry experience preferred.
  • Outdoor work experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment; training will be provided.
  • Ability to perform basic math and operate a cash register.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work environments and responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to frequently climb in and out of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and other weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around recycling materials, heavy equipment, machinery, and other industrial conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
