Job Summary
The Sandblaster is responsible for cleaning, smoothing, and preparing surfaces by blasting them with abrasive materials using specialized equipment. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to follow work orders to meet production and quality standards.
The Sandblaster is responsible for cleaning, smoothing, and preparing surfaces by blasting them with abrasive materials using specialized equipment. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to follow work orders to meet production and quality standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Operate sandblasting equipment to clean, strip, or prepare surfaces such as metal, glass, or other materials.
- Follow work orders, blueprints, and specifications to ensure proper surface preparation.
- Select and load the appropriate abrasive material for the job.
- Inspect completed work to ensure surfaces meet required standards.
- Maintain equipment, including cleaning and replacing nozzles, hoses, and filters as needed.
- Adhere to all safety policies and wear required PPE (personal protective equipment).
- Keep work area clean and organized to ensure safe operations.
- Assist with other duties in the shop or production area as needed.
Key Qualifications for Sandblaster Opening
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of welding experience
- Previous sandblasting or industrial painting experience preferred but not always required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach frequently
- Ability to use safety gear such as welding helmets and hearing protection
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
