Position Summary
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the security, safety, and order of the plant, grounds, and work site at our Sparta, Michigan location. This role requires vigilance, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to potential security or facility concerns.
Primary Responsibilities
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and authorize entrance/exit of employees, contractors, visitors, and other personnel.
- Sign in vendors and contractors, issuing proper badges.
- Report bulk tanker deliveries to blend room personnel and track deliveries on the weekly schedule.
- Verify seal numbers and integrity for incoming trucks, record in log book, and direct trucks to appropriate dock or S&R office.
- Verify trailer seal numbers match the bill of lading for outgoing trucks; inspect trailer doors and seals per SQF shipping procedures.
- Monitor security camera footage.
- Patrol premises to prevent/detect intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, chemical cages, etc.
- Monitor refrigeration/freezer temperatures, including blend room tanks, during weekends/holidays; report deviations promptly.
- Complete weekend rounds checklist and maintain accurate records.
- During after-hours rounds, check for facility issues (trash, pest control, leaks, etc.).
- Write and submit reports of daily activities and irregularities to the Director of Transportation.
- Monitor weather conditions during severe weather events and report to crisis management team as necessary.
- Contact police, fire, or emergency services in urgent situations.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to work in a typical office setting as well as outdoors/field as needed.
- Must be able to patrol facility grounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
- May require driving a company or personal vehicle.
