Job Summary
Are you hands-on, safety-focused, and enjoy working in a fast-paced industrial environment? We’re seeking a Shipping & Receiving Laborer to join a family-owned recycling manufacturer in Kendallville, IN. In this role, you’ll play a key part in moving, organizing, and tracking aluminum materials while supporting warehouse operations and maintaining a clean, safe facility.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Shipping & Receiving Laborer, your core responsibilities will include:
- Material Receiving & Handling:
Receive loose materials, barrels, and boxes and position them properly in the warehouse or load onto trailers while ensuring correct labeling, weights, and barcodes. - Shipping & Inventory Control:
Load and ship finished aluminum sows using load sheets, maintain accurate counts, and ensure all materials are properly segregated by lot number, customer, and material type. - Warehouse Organization & Safety:
Stack and store materials safely, band and skid incoming materials, cover outdoor-stored materials, and keep loading docks and warehouse areas clean and debris-free.
In addition, you will also be expected to operate industrial equipment (forklift, skid steer, and front-end loader), weigh incoming aluminum, assist the Shipping & Receiving Manager, and perform general grounds and housekeeping tasks as directed by management.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to work overtime as needed and assist in multiple job functions
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely in a warehouse environment
Skills:
- Teamwork & Communication: Ability to work well with coworkers, supervisors, and customers
- Mechanical Aptitude: Comfort working around equipment and materials; general math skills are helpful
- Equipment Operation: Forklift experience preferred (training provided for the right candidate); willingness to learn skid steer and front-end loader operation
