Job Summary
Liberty Steel is a leader in the steel industry, committed to excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Steel Receiver
to join our team and support steel receiving, inspection, and processing operations. This role is ideal for someone with steel industry experience who understands steel grades, quality requirements, and material handling processes.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Steel Receiver, your core responsibilities will include:
Steel Receiving & Inspection
Receive incoming steel coils, verify shipments, inspect material quality, and identify steel grades and defects. Accurately document findings and communicate any discrepancies or quality concerns.
Material Processing
Operate cutting torches to process steel materials as needed. Assist with handling, staging, and preparing material for production and inventory purposes.
Material Handling & Inventory Control
Utilize computer systems to enter inventory information, maintain accurate records, and support reporting activities. Safely load, unload, and move steel coils and materials using overhead cranes and forklifts.
In addition, you will support general plant operations and perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications
- Preferred 2+ years of experience in steel receiving, steel processing, or a similar industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of steel grades and common steel defects.
- Experience operating cutting torches.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and inventory management systems.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Skills
- Steel Knowledge: Ability to identify steel grades, recognize defects, and ensure material quality standards are met.
- Material Handling: Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes is preferred. Candidates must be willing to learn and become proficient with both.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately inspect, document, and track incoming materials.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to following all safety procedures and best practices.
- Dependability: Strong attendance, punctuality, and willingness to support plant operations as needed.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a steel processing facility. Employees should be comfortable working around heavy equipment, steel coils, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other industrial machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
