Our Review: While Madcap Coffee is a Grand Rapids, MI landmark, you can find their beans across the US. Two friends who had a dream founded Madcap, we relate to this here at Workbox Staffing. At Workbox, we pride ourselves on being down to earth down to business, and the guys behind Madcap share that same idea. We felt Madcap is a great coffee shop because it wasn’t hipster enough to intimidate the average coffee lover unlike some other cafes out there serving “deconstructed coffee” (um what…?). The basics of a cafe mocha are espresso and hot milk steamed together with either milk or dark chocolate. The cafe mocha is a welcoming brew for those looking for a caffeine boost but aren’t looking for the “put hair on your chest” power of a Sumatran dark roast. Cafe mochas are a great balance between sweet and slightly bitter, just like coming into work on Thursdays: sweet because it means tomorrow is Friday but bitter because it’s not Friday yet. We’d be lying if we didn’t do a little happy dance when our mocha was delivered to us with that classically ‘grammable latte art.
Job Numbers: Workbox currently serves eleven markets in Michigan, Indiana, Texas, South Carolina, and Georgia. While sipping on our cafe mochas, we took a look at the latest job numbers for each of these markets, but don’t worry; it’s not as dull as it sounds when you have a large cup of chocolately-espresso goodness in front of you.

Looking at these trends, we can see that unemployment is continuing to decrease and the economy is growing. While of course, it is great to see a growing economy, it makes it increasingly harder for employers to fill their roles with qualified candidates. Since we are in a job seeker’s market, people aren’t desperate to take any position offered to them. Job seekers can “shop” around different positions and accept the one they feel will be the best fit for < i>them< /i>. The factors impacting on a candidate accepting a job with your company include compensation rate, best benefits, and location. This shift in the economy has meant that employers need to take a harder look at what they offer to bring in top talent, but it has now become essential if you want to attract the best candidate(s). In our industry, it has been a long time since we’ve had to consider raising pay rates or offer hire-in bonuses, but it appears that is the direction the labor market seems to keep trending.
